Freaky weekend?

I despise family reunions!
I love these people and yet, I don't really know them and they certainly don't know me!
In fact, even the closest of family members can, at times, feel like strangers to me when I am sharing about my life and what God has done for me and what He is showing me in His word......I get the deer-in-the-headlight-thing ALL the time.
Even my kids are beginning to experience those "looks" from folks who just don't get it.
That's right, we're a house of freaks....Jesus freaks!
We're strangers in a strange land and this is NOT our home.
Lacey blessed me beyond words this weekend simply by sharing of her wisdom on certain family issues and what was so sweet about it is the fact that she doesn't even know how "different" she sounds to the world.
She's just sharing what she's learned.
Even though I love my family that I was born to, I am especially grateful for my church family, my coffee girls, who hold me and my family to a higher standard and who love to see the transforming power of God's love in our family and who don't look at me like I'm a freak raising freaky daughters.
It has occured to me to erect huge walls with razor wire around our property and live off our land and never come out except to go get supplies..and Starbucks...and, uh, shoes and Wintergreen lifesavers......it sounds safe and homey and, slightly Amish...I don't think we're plain enough, and....it might go against that whole "bringin' in the harvest-Great Commision thing"......
I don't think we're ready to be Amish or THAT set-apart.
Guess I'll have to settle for being slightly freaky.
I'm OK with that.
