Hey Laurie 4

I have been thinking of you and wondering what you are up to....
The last time we spoke was wierd...you were wierd.
Do you know that you are not yourself???
I remembered a dream that I had about you and I after our crazy weekend in Kahlotus, remember that?
It showed you walking with Jesus and He had His arm around you and you were looking at me, almost beckoning me to join you and Jesus. But, what you didn't see was the great ravine between us and I couldn't get to you......and you looked so peaceful.
That dream has always perplexed me.
What did it mean?
The Holy Spirit brought it to my memory again, I think, in part to comfort me, and, in part, to show me that He is in control.....you are in God's hands....and that I may not ever reach you....and I need to be okay with that, which I'm not, yet.
Know this, my friend, I will NEVER give up on you.
I love you, it doesn't matter that you don't believe it cuz it doesn't make it any less true.
I miss you.
See you soon.

I don't care who you are....

THIS IS FUNNY!

"Yeah, I used to be a LIFEGUARD.......'til this little BLUE KID got me fired."

oh brother....

Researchers have found that women who are found to have the same length ring/index finger score lower than men in the area of spatial relations.
Apparently, they have found that the lack of testosterone in the womb causes a deficiency in spatial ablilities......and shorter ring fingers
In a related story, researchers have also found that women can see the many variations of the color red, where men just see red.
Apparently, the lack of estrogen in the womb has caused them to grow penises, longer ring fingers, have huge egos, be insensitive to the opposite sex, and to NOT GIVE A RAT'S BEHIND THAT THERE ARE MANY VARIATIONS OF THE COLOR RED!!!!!
It's nice to know that our tax dollars are going to save the world from "insensitive-color-blind-ego-maniacs."
Good show.....

poor Beckah.....

My friend, Beckah, is shamelessly trying to get people to leave comments on her blog.
She's begging, pleading...it's quite pathetic.
I would NEVER stoop to such a thing!
She's asking people to tell of a favorite story/memory of HER......get OVER yourself!

OK, so tell me a funny story about YOU!!!!
Maybe your most embarrassing moment? or just something you said that made people laugh?
I would just LOVE to hear from YOU, my adoring public.
Without YOU, I'd be nothing......

yesterday.....

We went to see "Because of Winn Dixie" yesterday and we loved it!!!!
but, I have to tell you a funny:

I was down in Florida last fall, we were working with the Salvation Army at this college passing meals to victims of the hurricanes. Anyway, I was serving this cake to the folks coming out of the line and almost everyone asked if it was my birthday.
I told them, "No", but they could sing to me if they liked."
Several ladies sang to me and when they asked what my name was, they all thought I said Gloria, so here they are singing, "Happy birthday, dear Gloria...."
It was hilarious!!!!

So, as we are watching this movie, the little girls meets an old lady and asks what her name is and she tells her it's, Gloria, to which my family simultaneously leans up and says, Lori?

It was funny.

where we came from?

The girls and I have been studying about our family's heritage:
The Jaegers are German, so we studied Germany and it's history. Germany has quite a tumultuous past, as you probably know, but did you know that Germany has no mineral resources AT ALL??? They rely solely on the Middle East for oil, innersteen....
Then, we studied the American Indians, as my father was a Cherokee Indian, and they also have a very tumultuous past. Do you realize the injustices they suffered almost the moment white man stepped foot on this land??? It's disgraceful, really disgraceful. Hurray to Pres. Roosevelt for giving back a little to these deeply spiritual and gentle peoples.
We will be studying Ireland...we all know how troubled they are, as my mother was a 2nd generation Irish/American.
Lastly, we will be studying our Christian heritage and Martin Luther. Now, those were some RADICAL times and, unfortunately, we modern-day Christ followers are still suffering the bad reputation those times wrought.
I want the girls to understand where we came from and how "frought with peril" was the common thread in our family's history.
Such is the history of man.....
Sometimes I wonder how God can love such a loathesome people.
THAT is precisely what I want the girls to understand: God loves His people, even though we are so vile, and has wonderful plans for us and is preparing a Kingdom for His followers that is beyond all comprehension.
I can't wait for that family reunion.

the final word on nutrition and health....

Concerned about too many carbs or too much fat in your diet?
Consider this:

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. the Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than
Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausges and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks
than Americans,

Conclusion:

Eat and drink what you like.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Satan's greatest lie...

This has been on my mind for a long time and I just didn't know how to express it, however, I've decided to just say it and, come what may......
I have a very good friend who, to make a short-story long, has gotten herself mixed up in the occult and has literally lost everything that she once loved and has burned every bridge she ever had.
Her family has given up on her....her friends, too.
Save one.....
I say this because her journey began 4 years ago when she, under very dire circumstances, began searching for God. She was in a dark time in her life and was desperately looking for hope.
I began telling her God's love for her and His plan for her life, an abundant life through the power of Jesus Christ. She wanted nothing to do with that. She went to church, not wanting to BE transformed, but to transform HERSELF. A lie.....
The "seed" that was planted fell to the side of the road and was devoured by the birds of the air.
What are the "birds of the air?"
The Bible tells us that they are demons; fallen angels.
They have devoured Laurie, and it was so easy for them.
The world would say there are many paths that lead to Heaven, but, the Bible says that the path to salvation is the "straight and narrow" path and wide is the gate to destruction.
Laurie, has unwittingly given her heart to Satan, but, she would say that he is God, that she speaks to him. She is deceived. Satan is the great deceiver, he poses himself as an angel of light, in order to deceive.
I have confronted Laurie, who has changed her name to Talia, and she is so...lost.
The evil that abounds in her is suffocating. She is so angry, at everything, everyone and what does she have??? She's lost her kids, her home.
But, what has she gained??? I tell you this, she has gained the "fountain of youth", she looks like she is 17 years old!!!! The enemy has given her Vanity.
Laurie was searching for "truth" in a world that has no absolutes. The Truth is that which is found in God's own Son, Jesus Christ. She rejected that Truth and, instead, embraced a "truth"
that has the enemy laughing and scoffing at her.
So, Satan has been deceiving people for thousands of years. Right? Jesus, Himself, cast out demons. It was part of His ministry. Satan knows that he is doomed to lose and wants to take everyone he can to Hell with him and his demons. Right?
So, why aren't we seeing more and more demon possessions or more people oppressed by the Enemy??? It was pretty commonplace in the Bible.
Could it be in our PC culture, where we do not wish to impose any morality on anyone or anything, and where we have pushed God out of the picture because He make most of us feel uncomfortable, that we have been duped into the Enemy's greatest lie, which is that he doesn't exist?????
So, if Satan doesn't exist, then what is wrong with all those people in the mental hospitals??? Oh, right....they are mentally ill.....so sad. Let's medicate them...and forget them.
I have a pastor-friend who has worked in many mental hopitals and he says they are full of people who are demon-possessed and demon-oppressed, but, in a world that doesn't believe in evil, they are labeled "mentally ill."
We, as Christians, need to be discerned to the evil around us.
Evil abounds.....and calls itself god.
Ephesians 6:11-12
"Put on the full armour of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against the rulers, but against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."

busy, busy, busy...

My life is full....
I have the greatest family anyone could ask for and the greatest job.
Between home-schooling, managing the affairs of our home, teaching drama and GA's at church and driving the girls around to their various activities, I have little time for me.
But, the little time I have, I believe I spend it well. I'm writing a book, involved in a writer's group, and now, I'm doing theatre!
YIKES!
What am I thinking??
I do not do well with a full plate....I like flexibility and spontanaiety.
NO room for that!!!
But, I'm committed....I will press on.
I hope I do it well enough to laugh along the way.....
Maybe I could have myself cloned??
Nah! I heard that guy got hit by lightning......

I'm converting.....to vegetarianism

I'm serious.....
That was perhaps the most disturbing thing we've ever done.....
Next time we're hiring out!
It was sorta comical, in that, Con was holding him down and he asked me to take over so he could use the axe on him and.... I just couldn't do it...I bailed on him....which left him to hold the rooster down and try to whack him and, needless to say it took a few whacks to get it right and I'm crying hysterically to get it done quickly and the rooster is flopping around and I'm crying uncontrollably........
Con's response to me after was: I hate you for this!
We are not definately suited for this business.
Tofu....you're the BEST!

It is finished...

Top 10 reasons that Con is my valentine:

1. He does the dishes when I leave them.
2. He washes my truck for me cuz I always get stuck in the carwash-thing.
3. He'll carry my purse for me when we're shopping.
4. He plays vidos games with the girls so I don't have to.
5. He puts the lid down.
6. He always tells me I'm beautiful...even when I'm not.
7. He's always thoughtful and attentive....sometimes it creeps me out, but I appreciate it.
8. He watched the "Notebook" with me...and liked it.
9. He puts my needs ahead of his own.
10. Cuz I love him for all the wonderful things he does and says and for being a wonderul husband and father and friend and for caring enough to do the little things and for letting me be ME, even when it's annoying, I appreciate you for YOU.

Happy Valentines, Honey!

Lacey's turning "13"

I remember holding her when she was only moments old and looking into her beautiful little face and saying," I've been waiting for you my whole life."
She just stared at me and I was in awe......
It's been like that her whole life.
It has been an honor to be her Mom and she "awes" me still with her kindness to others, her fantastic wit, her intellect, her charm, her insights, her love of movies and all things horses.

Happy Birthday, Lacey!!!!!!

I love you with all that I am and always will.......

"I'm a really good driver..."

For real.....
I AM a good driver! It's just that I have a bad habit of driving WAY too fast All the time and uhhmmm.........well, it finally happened....

I GOT A TICKET!!!!!!

It's my first one...EVER!!!!
And it was a good one. The trooper clocked me going 67 mph in a 50 mph zone, but I didn't make any excuses....I totally owned my behavior....I didn't try to talk my way out of it and I prayed that he would only give me a warning.
Which he didn't, but, he only ticketed me for going 6o mph.
Thank you, Jesus!

I'm gonna miss driving fast.....(heavy sigh)

We live in a SICK world....

NICE!
The British government gave the creator( I say that very loosely) of Dolly the Sheep a HUMAN CLONING license for medical reserch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anybody else have a problem with this???
"Such work, called therapeutic cloning because it does not result in a baby(yet), must DESTROY HUMAN EMRYOS in order to harvest stem-cells."
Where do they get these HUMAN EMBRYOS???????
From ABORTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As if the PRO-CHOICE women in this country needed another reason to supercede their morals by killing their own........
Now, they'll be able to actually get PAID for KILLING their unborn children.
Nice!
I can just picture the Ad:

We will pay top dollar for your embryos!
That's right,
You create Life
and.....
we'll take it away.....
and....
we'll pay YOU!
Please call us at: 555-BLOODMONEYFORYOU

Nice!

the evil tongue

I heard a quote recently that is so right on:

"the reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail, not his tongue."

So true.....reminds me of a story:

I did an art show 2 summers ago in one of our local parks. My booth was set up on a corner of a row so I had the unique experince of seeing/hearing people comment on my wares, or whatever, twice as much as other merchants.
I saw a woman that I had served with at our church camp that summer and before I could call out to her she said something very disparaging about my benches to her friend......I was stunned!
I could see by her body language that it was a very casual comment to her, one that was she would not remember if I ever confronted her on it, but the damage, for me, was/is devastating!

"Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark(or in the park) shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms shall be proclaimed from the rooftops." Luke 12:3

I love to throw that one at her when I think about it, but, the truth is, we've all done it.
I've done it......
You just never know who is listening....I tell you this: God always is and someday our words will be proclaimed "from the rooftops".
Watch your tongue, guard it.

"Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit." Psalms 34:13

Welcome home, Meigan....

I will be attending a baby shower for a friend of mine who just brought back her daughter from China. It is such a precious story. Here are some highlights:

Beth is single and she was told that the Chinese government only allowed a very small number of single-parent adoptions every year so the process was usually a much longer one than for two-parent adoptions. Not true for Beth- the paperwork just flew right through.....
Beth had chosen the name for her baby long before she was matched to her would-be daughter. The name she chose was Megan and when she was matched to a baby, Beth found out that her name was Mei, the equivalent of Megan in english. Awesome!!!!!
The process of bonding with Meigan was a breeze, apparently it can be a traumatic time for the babies as they are taken from the only home they've known but, Meigan took right to Beth and the women there were amazed at that. Wow!
Beth was working with an agency to help with the financial side of the adoption in which they suggest asking for donations from family and friends before going into debt with loans and such....all to say that the donations far exceeded what Beth needed for the adoption and now she is able to stay home with her for awhile to bond and it will not be a financial strain, being that she is a single-mom. Isn't that amazing?????
What a blessing this little girl has been not only to her mother, but to all those around her that have witnessed how God has orchestrated this adoption from beginning to end.
They say it takes a village to raise a child.
This child has a village....and then some.

If you love someone....

You know that old saying....

"If you love someone....
set them free.
If they come back to you...
they're yours.
If they don't....
they never were......."

What a load of CRAP!!!!!!
If you love someone, it's hard work to keep the relationship mutually satisfying.
The easiest thing to do would be to "let them go" when they show their warts. Is that the right thing to do? We all need someone to fight for us and to fight for what is important to us.
It take two to make the dance good.
Sometimes you have to lead, sometimes you follow, but both should be engaged in the dance itself.
The relationship that follows is it's own reward.
I'm changing that old saying! I think it should say:

"If you love someone, love them through the hard times as well as the good.
When they see that you are committed to loving them even if it's hard, they will love you, in return.
If they stick by you....through it all...
then they will know the truth..... that Love never fails."

Don't we all deserve to be loved like that????
I know I do.
Thank you, family and friends, for loving me, warts and all, and when you show your warts....know that I'll still love you in return.

Me;-)

my nails look awesome.....

You've entered my world now and that is worth mentioning.
Also, I've joined a Writer's Critique Group for aspiring writers and I'm nervous to let someone else read my book. So far, my girls have been my critics and, considering that they are my target audience and they seem to love it, I have had great confidence in that it is a good story.
But, this group is comprised of ADULTS......novelists, self-help writers and, you know, SERIOUS writers. I'm a little freaked....and excited.
I think it would be so cool just to be able to say, "I'm published."
I have no delusions that will happen, but, I can dream......
Did I mention how awesome my nails look???? I say this only because I'm looking at them right now as I type this post.....
Moving on....
Thursday, I will be auditioning for a dinner theatre production of," If the Good Lord is Willing and the Creek Don't Rise." I'm nervous for that, as well.....don't worry, though, I got this one.
Well.......
Times fun when you're havin' flies.
Gotta run;-)
